IMPA abre processo seletivo para pesquisador e oferece bolsa de pós-doc

O IMPA está com dois processos seletivos abertos para matemáticos. O instituto busca um pesquisador especializado em matemática pura, aplicada ou industrial – com ênfase especial nas subáreas de Matemática Aplicada e Matemática Industrial – e oferece também uma bolsa de pós-doutorado voltada a todas as áreas da matemática. Vaga em Matemática Pura, Aplicada e Industrial

A posição é inicialmente probatória, com transição para pesquisador permanente analisada no decorrer dos quatro primeiros anos. O salário mensal varia entre R$ 26.952,00 e R$ 28.898,57. A data limite para o envio de candidaturas é 16 de novembro e os resultados serão anunciados em dezembro de 2025. As candidaturas deverão incluir: carta de apresentação; curriculum vitae; lista de publicações; plano de trabalho; nomes e e-mails de ao menos três recomendantes que tenham familiaridade com o trabalho do candidato.

Ao fim da submissão da candidatura, o IMPA entrará em contato com os recomendantes via e-mail com informações sobre o candidato e com instruções sobre como submeter a sua carta de recomendação.

Bolsa de Pós-Doutorado em Matemática

A bolsa é destinada a pesquisadores de Matemática Pura ou Aplicada, com duração de dois anos, podendo ser renovada por mais um ano, mediante acordo entre o IMPA e o bolsista. O valor mensal é de R$ 9.000,00 (sem impostos), com R$ 12.000,00 anuais de taxa de bancada, voltados ao financiamento de viagens acadêmicas e/ou recepção de visitantes.

IMPA Has Two Open Selection Processes for Mathematicians

The Instituto de Matemática Pura e Aplicada (IMPA) is currently accepting applications for two academic positions. The institute is seeking a researcher specialized in pure, applied, or industrial mathematics – with special emphasis on the subareas of Applied Mathematics and Industrial Mathematics – and is also offering a postdoctoral fellowship open to all areas of mathematics. Position in Pure, Applied, and Industrial Mathematics

This is an initially probationary position, with the possibility of transitioning to a permanent research position within the first four years. Postdoctoral Fellowship in Mathematics

This fellowship is intended for researchers in Pure or Applied Mathematics. It has a duration of two years, with the possibility of a one-year renewal, subject to agreement between IMPA and the fellow. The monthly stipend is R$ 9,000.00 (tax-free), along with an annual research allowance of R$ 12,000.00 for academic travel and/or hosting visitors.

Applications must be submitted by November 30, 2025, and the results will be announced in December 2025. The full announcement is available at this link, and applications can be submitted here.

Applications must include: a cover letter; Ph.D. degree obtained less than 10 years ago, or thesis defense scheduled no later than August 2026, in Mathematics or a related field.

The selection process is open to candidates who have earned a Ph.D. within the last 10 years or who are expected to defend their thesis by August 2026, in Mathematics or related areas. Former IMPA students are eligible only if they defended their thesis more than 3 years prior to the application opening date.

In addition, applications must include: a research plan; list of publications; curriculum vitae; names and email addresses of at least three referees who are familiar with the candidate’s work.
